Another huge weekend of football that is sure to intrigue and excite all followers of Gaelic games as we look forward to the huge challenges of the next 72 hours. We have senior, intermediate and junior club championship quarter finals, the Kilmacud Sevens Tournament and of course the All Ireland Finals on Sunday. Indeed Sunday will seem rather strange with no Tyrone involvement in Dublin but the renewed rivalry between the men from the capital and Kerry is sure to attract a large TV audience and quite a few Tyrone folk will be heading south for their annual pilgrimage to Croke Park. Lots of people will make a weekend of it and take Saturday’s traditional Kilmacud Sevens tournament and we hope to bring news of any Tyrone successes in that one.

Back at home of course the focus will be on Omagh tonight and Coalisland tomorrow as the remaining quarter final games are played. Healy Park will be sure to attract a large crowd tonight as two of the favourites for the championship at the start of the year go head to head when Carrickmore take on Clonoe.THIS GAME WILL BE BROADCAST LIVE ON Q101 AND LIVE UPDATES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE TEAM TALK WEBSITE The East Tyrone team has a good record against Carrickmore in the championship and with Stephen Mc Nulty, Damian Burke, Ryan T O’Neill, Colm Doris and Conor Mc Aliskey all in good form they will fancy their chances of progressing. Last time out against Trillick the O’Rahillys recovered from a slow start to enjoy a comprehensive victory and will be hoping to continue that good form.

Carrickmore were narrow but comfortable winners over great rivals Errigal Ciaran in the opening round. Colm Mc Gurk and Conor Gormley were in outstanding form in the middle of the field and their battle with Mc Nulty and O’Hagan should be one of the highlights of the game. Up front Mark Donnelly, Caolan Daly and Kevin Mc Nally will carry most of the attacking threat for Carrickmore but their ability to convert chances against a teak tough Clonoe defence could well decide the outcome of the game.

This has all the hallmarks of being an exciting and close old fashioned game of senior championship football and as their league positions show, with very little between both sides. Expect it to be tough, hard and uncompromising and it might even take a replay to decide the outcome.
