Casey Welcomes McShane Appointment
Thursday 21.01.2021

Tyrone Senior Hurler Damian Casey has welcomed the appointment of Ballycastle man Michael McShane to the post of Tyrone Senior Hurling Manager. Speaking to TTM this evening he was asked for an initial reaction to the news. ” I welcome it with a great deal of excitement. I have never worked under Michael before but any interaction that I’ve had with him has shown me that he has a great deal of passion for the game of hurling. Obviously his success with Slaughtneil in recent years has got the attention of GAA people all over Ireland never mind Ulster. Hopefully he can bring some of that success with him to the county set up in Tyrone”.
Casey was fulsome in his praise for outgoing manager Mattie Lennon who stepped down from the post after six years in charge. “What Mattie Lennon has done for Tyrone Hurling has been tremendous. He cannot be thanked enough for his input. Whoever was going to replace Mattie was going to have a tough job but I’ve no doubt that Michael has the pedigree and experience to build on the great foundation set down by Mattie Lennon. I just hope that everything that is possible is done to support his appointment and that he gets the resources needed to carry out the job successfully.”
