Augher’s Aidan Cassidy has not enjoyed the best of luck since first breaking into the Tyrone senior squad and his injury jinx appeared to have struck again. He was outstanding in the middle of the field against Longford but a niggling hamstring injury ruled him out of the clash with Armagh and he was an unused sub against Roscommon last weekend. It was thought that he was close to full fitness but not quite ready and the manager chose not to risk him. He trained on Tuesday night and reports that his leg is perfect and he is fit and raring to go.”Yeah the hamstring is good and I am really looking forward to Saturday. It’s a massive game against the Dubs, they just don’t come any bigger than that but everyone is in good shape and hopefully we can get the right result”.
Whether he starts the game or is used as a substitute, Aidan Cassidy is sure to give the manager increased options and the sort of selection headaches any manager would love to have. With his versatility and mobility the big Augher man’s style of football seems ideally suited to Croke Park.
