Champions 15 Award For Tyrone’s Damien Casey

Tyrone’s hurler Damien Casey is one of the most decorated Tyrone players in the inter county game. During the course of his career thus far he has picked up 6 All Star awards as well as being named Player of the Year in 2014 over the course of eight years playing senior inter-county hurling.

Damien won his first Nicky Rackard All Star in 2013 at the age of 19 and was recently named in the Champions’ 15 for the second time since its inception in 2018.

The Champions 15 sees the merging of The Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher competitions with the awards being reduced from 45 to 15. As a result it is much harder to earn recognition and the standard of player and opposition is much higher with teams such as Offaly, Down and Kildare among the winning counties this year.

Congratulations to Damien on his award and hopefully this national recognition will inspire some of the young hurlers across the county to achieve what the Eoghan Ruadh clubman has done.
