Saturday night’s two ladies finals put on display all that is good about Ladies Football from the organisational detail right down to the games themselves as both Killeeshil and Sperrin Og secured victories in their respective games. Killeeshil maintained the club’s current run of achievement in the Ladies game with a convincing 4-19 to 3-5 win over neighbours  Errigal Ciaran in their Senior B final while Sperrin Og had to deal with the sin binning of key player Eimear Teague and a late Donaghmore onslaught to win the Junior title.

Sperrin Og and Donaghmore served up an exciting and entertaining game at Gardrum Park on Saturday evening that had the spectators enthralled throughout. Both teams had periods of dominance as the match ebbed and flowed with some excellent individual performances. Laura Lee Mc Cullagh was a colossus for the Greencastle girls at centre back but her job was made a lot less difficult by the switch of Laura Heagney to left half back to curtail the influence of Donaghmore’s ace attacker Aisling Hegarty. Hegarty, her sister Emma and Edel Mc Glone produced superb performances as they drove their side forward in search of victory in the final ten minutes. By that stage Sperrin Og led by two clear goals 3-9 to 0-9 with their majors coming from Louise Mc Dermott, Shauneen Ferrity and Nicola Glass. However the sin binning of Eimear Teague gave the Donaghmore girls new hope and they managed to close the gap to two points with a penalty and another point before time ran out on them.

Scorers for Sperrin Og: Louise Mc Dermott 1-1, Shauneen Ferrity 1-0, Nicola Glass 1-1, Amy Mc Cullagh 0-3, Kim Mc Cullagh 0-3, Breige Beggs 0-1.
