Championship Wins For Killeeshil And Donaghmore
Sunday 23.06.2019
The championship double header at Killyclogher on Sunday evening saw wins for Killeeshil and Donaghmore.
Killeeshil enjoyed a fairly comfortable victory over Loughmacrory with Grainne Rafferty, Lisa Marie Skeffington and Bronagh Mc Kenna among the scorers for the winners.
The second game of the evening saw a much closer encounter between Drumragh and Donaghmore. Played in difficult conditions both sides went at it from the start. Joanne Barrett opened the scoring for Drumragh but scores from Michaela Mc Guigan and Rebecca Quinn helped Donaghmore open up a six point lead.
Donaghmore were rocked back on their heels when they had midfielder Sorcha Mc Namee red carded. Points from Beth Donaghy and Grace O’Neill left the half time score 0-8 to 0-4 in favour of Donaghmore at the break.
The second half saw the intensity of the exchanges increase as both teams produced some excellent, competitive football. It took twelve minutes of the second half for the first score of the half to arrive and that was a superb individual effort from county star Neamh Woods.
Both sides swapped scores before Zoe Loughran fired to the net to put Donaghmore 1-11 to 1-4 clear with only seven minutes left and although Drumragh created chances they failed to get the all important scores they needed.
Donaghmore finished strongly to win by nine and now go through to meet Cookstown in the first round.
