Christy Ring Cup Rd 1
Tyrone 2-12 London 2-21

London hurlers got their Christy Ring campaign off to the perfect start in Eoghan Ruadh on Sunday afternoon as they recorded a second win over Tyrone this season having accounted for the Red Hands in Ruislip earlier in the league.

London looked much the sharper team right from the first whistle and led 0-4 to 0-0 inside eight minutes thanks to 65 from Jack Goulding and points from play from Sean Glynn, Owen Sheil and Stephen Whelan.  The first 65 resulting from a goal scoring chance for Goulding brilliantly turned around the post by Conor McElhatton in the Tyrone goal.  Tyrone’s first two scores came in the 10th and 11th minutes with Aidan Kelly (free) and Ben Gormley both finding the range.  London would respond strongly with 1-2 inside the next six minutes.  First Ronan Crowley fired home the first goal and that was followed up by a second Jack Goulding free and another Sean Glynn point from play.

From the 20th minute to the half time whistle both sides shared the next eight points.  Aidan Kelly with three points and Ben Gormley with his second point for Tyrone and Jack Goulding (2 frees), Eoghan McHugh and Kevin Reid with the scores for London.  Half time score Tyrone 0-6 London 1-10.

Tyrone needed a good start to the second half and when Aidan Kelly clipped over a point in the 37th minute it looked like they were going to get it however that score was quickly cancelled out thanks to a second major for the visitors.  Owen Sheil turning the ball into the net from close range.  Lorcan Devlin and Aidan Kelly did respond with two points in the 40th and 43rd minute however London got points of their own via another Jack Goulding free and a point from play for Sean Glynn.  Trailing by nine points Tyrone had to get the next score and Eire Og’s Bryan McGurk obliged in the 48th minute.

London dominated the next 13 minutes of the match blitzing Tyrone 0-7 to no score.  Four Jack Goulding points (3 frees), added to with points from substitutes Paul Kennedy and Rory Lodge and another point from wing half forward Owen Sheil. London 2-19 Tyrone 0-10.

To their credit Tyrone dominated the final fourteen minutes of the game hitting the visitors for 2-2 to 0-2.  Sean Duffin and Aidan Kelly with the goals and Rory Weir and Aidan Kelly with the points for the Red Hands.  London had two Jack Goulding points to show for that period of time.  Final Score – Tyrone 2-12 London 2-21.
