Dungannon retained their grade one minor league title when they were worthy winners over Eglish in an entertaining final at Father Campbell Park in Coalisland on Tuesday evening. The sides shared the opening half a dozen points with Sean Cowan, Cormac Hughes and Ryan Jones on target for the Clarkes with Luke Donnelly, Ethan Jordan and Dan Muldoon responding for Eglish.

Michael McGleenan then put Eglish in front and at the end of the opening quarter the same player smashed in a superb goal. Aidan Murtagh then put Eglish five in front but Dungannon hit back with scores from Cowan and Hughes to close the gap to 1-7 to 0-8 at the interval.

Conal Devlin and Jordan swapped early second half points before the Clarkes got on top. Daragh Mallon, Aaron Kerr and Kevin Barker all scored to level matters. They were then awarded a penalty but George Hughes’ spot kick hit the post. Cormac Hughes, Jones and Barker pushed them three clear but Eglish replied through  Dillion Horsfield and Ryan Bradley to close the gap to the minimum going into injury time. Dungannon had kicked a lot of wides during the game but they weren’t to be denied with late points from David Cummings and Barker giving them a 0-18 to 1-12 victory.
