Dungannon safely negotiated their passage into the quarter finals of the senior championship with a convincing victory 1-10 to 0-4 victory over Eglish.
Edendork hosted the game, which was played in incessant rain, making playing conditions extremely difficult.
The Clarkes dominated the opening quarter with Dalaigh Jones to the fore, opening the scoring and assisting James Quinn’s goal. Quinn also grabbed a point in the opening period.
Despite Dungannon being in control, they were grateful to keeper Daire Martin, who made an important save to deny Ryan McKenna on the 18th minute. Seamus Muldoon did open Eglish account minutes later. Paul Donaghy and Seamus Muldoon exchanged points to close the half.
The second half belonged to Go man of the match Paul Donaghy. Donaghy kicking all of his side’s seven second-half scores, particularly impressive as conditions continued to deteriorate. Dungannon will be pleased with their work rate, their game management, and their disciplined tackling as they eased to a nine point victory to set up a quarter final meeting with Dromore.
