Clogher Cruise Past Omagh 3rds
Saturday 30.08.2025
Clogher 9-19 0-6 Omagh III
As the scoreline suggests, Clogher had little difficulty qualifying for the last eight of the Tyrone Junior championship. They ran out easy winners defeating Omagh in Fintona.
Omagh III’s first season has had its teething problems, but for fifteen minutes in their opening championship game, they battled gamely. A 4th minute Ben McFarland two pointer had given them the lead, and a two pointer from Ryan McGarvey on seven minutes levelled the contest following an early Marc McConnell goal for Clogher.

Clogher dominance was beginning to grow with four Ryan McCaughey points and a fisted goal from midfielder Barry McKenna giving the Eire Og men a nine point advantage (2-8 0-5), at the interval.
The second half saw a noticeable increase in pace from the winners as they repeatedly ripped through the Omagh rear guard. The movement of McConnell and man of the match Ciaran Bogue caused Omagh endless problems. McConnell opened the second half scoring with a 33rd minute goal, quickly followed by centre back Matty Callaghan bursting through for goal number four. Bogue and McConnell kept the scoreboard ticking over with several points before Ciaran Bogue and then Sean Bogue found the net as the third quarter ended.

Three goals in as many minutes from Conor Shields. Marc McConnell and Finbar McCaughey compounded Omagh’s misery and cruelly illustrated the difference in their league positions. Substitutes Eoin McCarron and Gareth McKenna got on the scoresheet late on with points as Clogher cruised into the next round. For Omagh it remains a work in progress.
