The neighbourly rivalry between Clogher and Eskra continues to intensify in Division 3 of the All County League.

The Eire Ogs enjoyed a more than decent season last year and have built on their Championship final appearance this year by adding league consistency to their undoubted ability.

Thursday night’s league clash with a quality Killeeshil side was always going to test Clogher and both teams pushed each other all the way with only a single score between them as the game entered the sixtieth minute.

Tomas Hoy (1-4), Cormac Donaghy (1-1) and Ruairi O’Neill (0-4) did most of the scoring for Killeeshil who finished with a more than respectable tally of 2-13.

Goal machine Fergal Mc Kenna found the net in the opening half for Clogher which helped them reach half time leading 1-6 to 1-5.

Sean Mc Caffrey (1-1), Ryan Mc Caughey (0-4), Michael Mc Caughey (0-2) and Conor Shields (0-3) were all on target inside normal time for Clogher but it was Paul Tierney’s goal in the 35th minute of the second half that made the difference.

This latest win for Clogher means Eskra are still very much in their sights.
