Clonoe Through To Ulster Semi
Saturday 08.11.2025
Clonoe 1-18 0-12 Saval
Clonoe qualified for the semi-final of this year’s Ulster Intermediate championship, defeating Down champions Saval in Healy Park.
Clonoe flew out of the traps with three points on the board within two minutes. Completely on top at midfield it was little surprise when Shea Coney’s beautiful finish after Fintan McClure set up saw the Rahillys lead by seven with eleven minutes played.
Daniel McCarthy opened Saval’s account in the 17th minute and PJ Lavery made a huge block to deny McAloon in the following attack. Ryan Morrow had an exceptional game throughout as he nullified the threat of Pat Havern and with their talisman curtailed Saval struggled.
Points from Taggart, McAliskey, Lavery and McCabe saw the Tyrone champions lead 1-9 0-4 at the break. The second half saw Saval respond with points from Havern and Dan McKernan but an Eoin Mansell two pointer and points from Fintan McClure and McAliskey restored the advantage.
Clonoe weathered every thing that Saval had but they will be concerned about the ease that goal chances were created with Mickey O’Neill producing three outstanding saves. Ryan Quinn came off the bench to complete the scoring, as Clonoe finished with nine points to spare.
Cavan champions Cuchulainns await Clonoe in the semi-final after they defeated Irvinestown earlier today.
