Clonoe Ticking Over Nicely

Clonoe overcame the possible banana skin of a difficult local derby against Derrylaughan to make it through to the county final on Saturday. It was a very composed and mature display from a team that seems to be really coming good at just the right time. Some people were expecting Derrylaughan to make life very difficult for the O’Rahillys but Clonoe made a real statement of intent in the first five minutes to move three points ahead and they never looked back after that.
It is a sign of a good team that can adapt to cope with different challenges as they arise but that still has the confidence and belief within themselves to maintain a consistent level of hard work. Their last two games presented totally different challenges but Clonoe coped with both and were deserving winners on both occasions.
If anything this present Clonoe side is a better team than the one that lifted the county title back in 2008. They have the experience of winning it once and will use that to their advantage in preparing for this the challenge that Dromore will pose. Their manager and coach are two “cute” boys when it comes to preparing teams and sussing out the opposition. This time however they will have to deal with the tag of favourites and that in itself will be something of a new ball game to them.
