Clonoe Under 21s were the toast of Tyrone last night as they reached the final of this years Ulster U21 tournament at Creggan.  The Rahillys had to dig very deep to overcome a strong challenge from Warrenpoint.  Both sides were all square after 17 minutes at two points apiece thanks to points from Ryan McCourt and Aaron Elliot.

A couple of points close to the break gave Clonoe a 0-4 to 0-2 lead but things didn’t look great for the Tyrone champions as Warrenpoint turned with the breeze in their backs for the closing half an hour.

After the break Declan McClure added a couple of points but the Point responded well with three of their own from Abbey MacRrory Cup man Donagh McAleenan.  A short time later the sides were level thanks to a point from Magee.

Manager Damien Cassidy was forced to send in the recently injured Danny McNulty and his presence helped to create space for Ciaran O’Neill to fire over a point.  Warrenpoint failed with a number of scoreable opportunities late in the game before Darryl Magee clipped the Rahillys final point.

Clonoe O’Rahillys – Thomas Martin, Paul O’Neill, Cormac Convery, Shane Donnelly, Ciaran O’Neill (0-1) Dwayne Quinn, Rhys Quinn, Conor Hughes, Declan McClure (0-4, 2 frees) Ryan McCourt (0-1) Darryl Magee (0-1) Eamon Duffin, Brian Morgan, Pauric Donnelly, Aaron Elliott (0-1) Substitutes – James O’Neill for Pauric Donnelly and Danny McNulty for Aaron Elliott
