CLUB| Busy Weekend For Tyrone Clubs.
Friday 30.10.2015
With the start of the Ulster Club football competition, the two Division One League semi -finals set to take place plus a promotion play-off this looks like being a busy weekend for some of Tyrone’s big hitters.
County champions Trillick (senior), Edendork (intermediate) and Brackaville (junior) get their Ulster Club campaigns under way on Sunday November 1st. Trillick travel to Ballybofey for their opening round fixture while both Brackaville and Edendork can look forward to the more familiar surroundings of Healy Park as they embark on what they hope will be successful provincial outings.
While many will be following the outcome of those games there is also sure to be much local interest in the Division One League semi-finals which see Carrickmore travel to Dromore and Clonoe host Errigal Ciaran.
It can be argued that these four teams are among the most successful sides in the county in recent years. Both games are sure to arouse lots of interest and be keenly contested. Regardless of which ever sides emerge victorious we are in for two quality games and the possibility of a pulsating final.
We will be bringing live commentary from the fixtures in Omagh and updates from the other venues.
It appears however that one game that will not take place is the scheduled Division Two relegation play-off between Gortin and Loughmacrory. Both clubs went to the Ulster Council to contest the arrangements put in place for the play-offs. Their appeals were heard last night and it appears were successful meaning that the Gortin v Loughmacrory game will not now take place. That decision is sure to impact on Urney and Rock of course but we will have to wait until the CCC meet to discuss the Ulster Council determination.
Ahead of all that of course is the Division Two promotion play-off between neighbours Kildress and Cookstown which will take place this evening under lights at Gortacladdy with an eight o’clock start. The reward for the winners is a clash with Donaghmore while for the losers another season in Division Two awaits.
