Once again Clonoe and Omagh produced a closely fought and very competitive game that was only decided at the death by a screamer of a goal from Danny Mc Nulty with Clonoe trailing by a single point and additional time all but over.

The O’Rahillys were the better side for long periods of the first half with Daryll Magee particularly impressive for Damien Cassidy’s team.  Magee’s second point midway through the first half put his team 0-3 to 0-1 ahead while he was also involved in most of Clonoe’s best work.

With both defences very much on top scores and scoring chances were hard to come by but Conor Mc Aliskey and Danny Mc Nulty (1-1) found the target late in the half to send the East Tyrone men in leading 1-6 to 0-4 at the break.

Omagh came out all guns blazing in the second half and were soon level following a goal and a point from Ronan O’Neill and a well taken score from the boot of Conor O’Donnell. The Healy Park men were very much in the ascendancy and when Conor Mc Mahon pointed on thirty eight minutes they took the lead for the first time in the game.

Clonoe’s resolve was being very much tested and their bench was emptied as they sought to rescue the game. Stevie and Danny Mc Nulty pointed to put Clonoe in front. Back came Omagh and a Conan Grugan point tied the scores as the clocked reached sixty minutes.

Extra time was beckoning before Conor O’Donnell got on the end of a fine move to put Omagh one up deep in injury time.

However just when it seemed that Omagh had done enough to win the game Mc Nulty came up with his late, late match winner and Clonoe went through on a final score of 2-8 to 1-9.
