Stewartstown lost out against a more determined Eskra side on Saturday afternoon on a final score of 1-7 to 0-13. Eskra opened the scoring with early points from Paul Meegan before a Dan Lowe goal put the Harps ahead. Aaron Kelly and Joe Mc Carroll added points but a further score from Lowe sent the sides in tied at the break 1-1 to 0-4.
Points from Lowe and Ronan O’Neill put Stewartstown two clear but a brace from Cathal Meegan tied the game again. The Harps added scores from Paul Dillon and Lowe again but it was Eskra who finished strongest with Peter Hughes(3), Joe Mc Carroll and Conor Mc Girr sealing the victory for The Emmetts.
Castlederg enjoyed a 3-18 to 0-6 win over an understrength Errigal Thirds side in a game where Caolan Harvey was outstanding throughout for the winners. The Derg were 2-7 to 0-4 ahead at the break with Mark Corry (3), Paddy Lynch (1-4) and Conor Mc Callion (1-0) doing the first half scoring for the winners. Conor Mc Callion, Brian Coyle and Paddy Lynch were hugely impressive for Castlederg as they eased to a twenty one point victory. Stefain Gallen, Brian Coyle, Mark Corry, Paddy Lynch and Conor Mc Callion were among the scorersfor the winners in a one sided second half.
Fintona lost narrowly to Brackaville 2-12 to 1-13 after an entertaining and high scoring game. Mark Mc Glinn, Aarron Mc Carney, Bernard Cassidy, Liam Maguire and Niall Mellon were on target for the Pearses but the Owen Roes were the happier side at the break with scores from Pete O’Hagan, Tiernan Mc Glinchey, Dale Mc Sorley, Sean Mc Nally and Ciaran Gervin. A Nathan Deane goal in the second half and further scores from Mark Mc Glinn, Aaron Mc Carney and Bernard Cassidy ensured Brackaville had to work hard for the win.
Glenelly recorded a 2-16 to 2-5 win over a disappointing Tattyreagh side with goals from Ronan O’Kane(1-3) and Colin Hicks(1-2) paving the way for the win. Joe Cartin and Michael Allan found the net for the Tatts with James Darcy and Eoghan Murray bagging four points between them. However points from Shane Devine (3), Barry Mc Connell (3) and Kevin Mc Connell (3) eased the blues to a deserved win.
Drumragh continued their recent good form with a fine 1-14 to 1-6 victory over Killyman. Mickey Donnelly opened the scoring in the first half for Killyman but thereafter it was all downhill for the men in gold and blue. With Drumragh five in front Martin Taggart found the net for the Sarsfields to put them eight clear on seventeen minutes. killyman responded immediately with a goal from Ryan Hughes which left the half time score 1-9 to 1-1 in favour of Drumragh. Gareth Starrs and Cathal Gallagher were on target with points for the winners in a dominant first half. Killyman showed more fight in the second period with points from Donnelly and Enda Mc Gahan but Drumragh eased to an eight point victory with Paddy Colgan, Benny Drumm and Gareth Mc Grath also among the scores.
County finalists Aghaloo sealed the league and warmed up for the championship final with a huge win over Brocagh. Conor Mullen top scored with 3-2 in a 3-21 to 0-7 victory. Niall Mc Elroy (6), Gary O’Gorman (5), Niall Henderson (4) contributed fifteen points between them on a day when the O’Neills really hit form.
Owen Roes began their clash with Newtownstewart with a Cathal McShane point followed by a well executed Sean Dooher effort. Scores from corner back Kevin O’Neill and Ryan McAleer opened a four point gap before McShane added to the lead from a placed kick. Newtownstewart got their first score from Piaras Gallagher with Aidan Mc Sorley and Sean Gallagher scores ensuring the St Eugene’s went in at the break 0-7 to 0-3 behind.
Cathal Mc Shane opened the scoring after the break but Newtown replied straight away through an Aidan Mc Sorley free to keep them in the game. Stephen Kelly then knocked over with a well measured effort for Owen Roes before Conor O’Neill and McShane hit scores either side of a Niall Mayse score from St Eugene’s. McShane added to his team’s tally on 53 minutes before he picked up a second yellow to leave his side a man down. A point from Seamus Dooher extended the Owen Roes’ advantage before a fine ball from Brendan Boggs was expertly worked by Ronan Parker to Kevin O’Neill, and the corner back lashed a rasping drive to the roof of the net to leave the final score Owen Roes 1-13, Newtownstewart 0-6,
Clogher enjoyed a facile victory over a disappointing Clan Na nGael side on a 4-15 to 0-7 win. The game was over by the break as Clogher led 2-7 to 0-1. Goals from Emmett Mc Connell and Fergal Mc Kenna helped put Clogher in a strong position at the break with Damien Ball the only CNG scorer in the half. Mark Mc Connell added a brace of goals in a dominant second half and although Niall Kerlin, Shane Mc Gill, Sean Kerlin, Stephen Blee and Gavin Tummons found the target for Clan there was no let up in the scoring from Clogher. Points from Fergal Mc Kenna, Sean Mc Caffrey, Ciaran Shields and Jamie Callaghan sealed a comprehensive win for the Eire Ogs.
Drumquin and Beragh played out an entertaining 0-12 to 0-12 draw on Saturday with Eddie Molloy and Martin Rodgers bagging eight points between them for the Red Knights who led 0-8 to 0-4 at the break. Eamon Teague (3) top scored for the Wolfe Tones while a brace each from Ryan Mc Callion and Barry Glackin and a last minute score from Frankie Mc Alynn ensured the points were shared.
