While most of the attention over the weekend was focused on the senior and intermediate club championship and the club hurling finals there was also the small matter of a programme of very important Junior League football fixtures taking place.

Two of the fancied sides in the championship came face to face with table toppers Tattyreagh taking on Brocagh. The Tatts came out on top 1-12 to 0-10 but were made fight all the way by an ever improving Brocagh side. Mickey Hughes with 0-5 helped Brocagh reach the break 0-7 to 1-3 in front but the Lough-shore men only managed another three points in the second half, two from Hughes and one from Barry Donnelly as a resurgent Tattyreagh dominated in the scoring stakes to secure another important win. Chris Mc Carroll got his team’s first half goal while James Darcy once again proved his worth with 0-7.

Neighbours and rivals Drumquin and Dregish served up a high scoring encounter that many thought had ended level only for referee John Mc Namee to call it as a one point win for the Wolfe Tones. Eamon Teague helped himself to 0-9 while Paul Sheridan (1-2), Benny Gormley (0-2), Killian Doherty and Liam Patterson accounted for the winners’ scores. A very disappointed Dregish team saw Aidan O’Kane hit 0-6 while both Peter Mc Crossan and Barry Devenney bagged 1-1 for their team.

Final score: 1-15 to 2-11 in favour of Drumquin.

Rock all but ended Owen Roes’ chances of promotion with a 1-9 to 1-8 win over the North Tyrone team.  County man Cathal Mc Shane was in good form and his first half scores helped his team reach the break 1-6 to 0-4 in front. However Rock, boosted by their championship victory over Castlederg on earlier in the week regrouped and came out strongly in the second half to restrict their opponents to two points while adding 1-5 themselves.

Beragh recovered from their championship disappointment to record a high scoring and well deserved 3-12 to 1-9 win over Drumragh Sarsfields. Niall Owens, Jack Campbell and Martin Rodgers all found the net for the winners while Gareth Starrs got the Drumragh major.

Newtownstewart got their season back on track on Sunday with a convincing sixteen point win over Killeeshil 3-17 to 0-10. Aidan Mc Sorley was in fine scoring form hitting 2-4 of his team’s 3-17 total. Ryan Mayse was another man on form bagging 0-5 for the winners while Michael Corless chipped in with 1-1 on the day. Killeeshil have found the going tough this season and Sunday was no different. Ruairi O’Neill top scored with 0-3 while both Conall Monaghan and John Mc Mullan both hit a brace of points apiece.
