Dromore launched the 2015 Paul Mc Girr Tournament on Friday night at Garvaghey. Among those present were representatives from last year’s winners Burren of County Down who beat St Brides of Belfast in a thrilling final as well as players and officials of most of the teams that will be participating the competition.
Club Chairman Barry Campbell welcomed all those who attended and introduced County Chairperson Roisin Jordan who spoke at length about the work and legacy of The Spirit of Paul Mc Girr. Fionnuala Mc Girr then gave a presentation about the great work being done in Zambia on behalf of the organisation after which the draw for the tournament was made.
The competition proper gets underway next weekend when the Tyrone champions (Dromore or Loughmacrory) meet Enniskillen Gaels in the preliminary round. The winners of that game will then get to lock horns with Bredagh who defeated Burren in the County Down final.
The remainder of the quarter final draw sees Southern Gaels of Cavan v O’Donovan Rossa of Antrim, Derry Champions v Inniskeen Monaghan and St Eunans Letterkenny v Clann Eireann of Armagh. These games will be played off on the 7th and 14th of November.
