Edendork St Malachy’s are tonight celebrating a seven point victory over Greencastle in the O’Neills Grade 2 Under 21 Championship final. Played in perfect conditions on an excellent pitch in Cookstown the Edendork men had a 0-4 to 0-0 lead by the quarter hour mark. The early points were taken by Paul Donaghy and Conor Mallon. Greencastle opened their account in the 16th minute of the game when Aidan Clarke slotted a free and further points followed from Dan Touhey and Christopher Gillen. Despite this Edendork still led at the break 0-9 to 0-4 after Lorcan Devlin, Conor O’Rourke and Dara Conway all shot points for the St Malachy’s side.
After the break Donaghy was back on the scoreboard twice for Edendork before a well taken Gavin Slane goal brought Greencastle back to with five points, 1-5 to 0-13. Edendork however finished much the stronger with Conn Kilpatrick particularly influential in the middle third and Conor Cullen, Paul Donaghy and Jake Ferguson all getting scores for the winners. Final Score – Edendork 0-16 Greencastle 1-6
