Owen Roes are through to the Division 2/3 final play-off game following a narrow but deserved win over Brocagh on Sunday afternoon at Eskra.

The North Tyrone side will now face Aghaloo after the “border men” saw off the challenge of Derrytresk in their Division Two relegation clash.

With the possibility of competing for a place in Division Two for next season on offer there was little between the sides through a tough and uncompromising eighty minutes.

Owen Roes played some fine possession football in the opening half and again in extra time but struggled for scores at times. Ryan Mc Aleer, Cathal Mc Shane, Seamus Dooher and Ronan Mc Nulty hit first half points for the winners but Brocagh’s dogged determination resulted in a goal for Cathal Donnelly and a brace of fine points from Mickey Hughes which helped the lough-shore men reach the break 1-3 to 0-5 in front.

The Emmetts began the second half strongly with Eugene Ryan, Barry Donnelly and Colm Mc Fall all working hard to keep them in front. However Owen Roes hit four fine points in the space of six minutes to move two ahead as Ryan Mc Aleer bagged three and Tony Devine also opened his account for the day.

Once again Ciaran Donnelly and Mickey Hughes helped drag their team back into the game with some fine finishing and it was no surprise that the sides could not be separated at the end of normal time. When referee Fergal Ward sounded the full time whistle the score board read Owen Roes 0-10, Brocagh 1-7.

The Emmetts began extra time well and moved two ahead following fine points from Hughes and Ryan. Owen Roes regained the initiative however to finish the half one up as Ryan Mc Shane, Michael Dooher and Cathal Mc Shane found their shooting boots.

Four minutes into the second period of added time Mickey Hughes tied the game again with a fine point but that was to be Brocagh’s last score of the day.

As both teams tired the running ability of Ryan Mc Aleer and Cathal Mc Shane swung the game in the direction of Owen Roes. A converted free from Andy Devine and a lovely point from the boot of county man Mc Shane ensured that Brocagh would spend another year at least in Junior football while the dream of Intermediate football in 2017 remains for Owen roes.

Final score : Owen Roes 0-15, Brocagh 1-10.
