Rock became the first side to qualify for the semi finals of the Donnelly Vauxhall Junior championship when they demonstrated all their experience and know how to get the better of Brocagh at Stewartstown on Thursday night.
Twice during the course of the game the Loughshore men held a six point lead but Rock didn’t panic as they fought back to eventually go through on a 3-9 to 1-13 scoreline. Ciaran Donnelly converted an early penalty for the Emmetts either side of points from Ciaran Campbell and Chris Beck as they established a 1-3 to 0-0 lead. Rock’s first score proved to be a goal from Conor McCreesh but with twenty minutes gone Brocagh were six in front again thanks to efforts from Eugene Ryan, Ciaran Donnelly and Cathal Donnelly. Late first half goals from Padraig Ward and McCreesh saw Rock turn things around to lead at the break.
In the second half Ciaran Donnelly and Aidan McGarrity traded points but it was Rock who now had the upper hand. Ciaran Donnelly brought his personal haul to 1-6 with McGarrity finishing with half a dozen points for the winners as they held on to win an entertaining encounter.
