Urney Through to Div 1/2 Play-off
Saturday 12.11.2016
Urney find themselves just sixty minutes away from playing senior club football next season following a 2-11 to 0-16 win over Dungannon Clarkes at Killyclogher on Saturday afternoon.
There was little between the sides throughout the match as the sides finished level at the end of sixty minutes of very competitive football. Extra time followed before the North Tyrone men edged it by the bare minimum after Ryan Henry landed the only score of the second half of extra time.
That score came in the seventy second minute of an absorbing contest as both teams battled with fatigue in their quest for victory with the reward being a winner takes all tussle against Eglish.
Urney started well moving four clear after eight minutes but as Dungannon settled to the task corner forward Patrick Molloy’s accuracy from placed balls and from play had them one ahead when the clock turned thirty minutes. However the lively Christopher Bogle landed his third point of the half a minute later to send the teams in tied 0-8 apiece at the break.
Both teams missed chances of goals early in the second half before Jamie Mc Aleer hit the net for Urney to move 1-8 to 0-9 in front. Once again Patrick Molloy’s unerring accuracy and a fine score from the foot of James Murray kept Dungannon in the game and had them one up with six minutes of the match remaining.
As was the case in the first half however Urney landed the final point of the half from Ronan Lafferty to take the game into extra time.
Dungannon landed three points in the first period of extra time but an Aidan Lynch penalty goal for Urney meant the teams could not be separated after seventy plus minutes.
Both teams were visibly tiring as the second period of extra time began. Dungannon had several good chances which they failed to convert and Ryan Henry, who later received a black card, punished their profligacy with his match winning free.
Final score: Dungannon 0-16, Urney 2-11.
