Danske Bank MacRory Cup

St Ronan’s Lurgan 1-6 Omagh CBS 0-11

The players of Omagh CBS and St Ronan’s Lurgan certainly had the elements to contend with on Saturday morning when they met at Augher in the Danske Bank MacRory Cup. Played in very difficult conditions the Omagh lads took victory on a score line of 0-11 to 1-6.

The Brothers lads moved into an early lead with three points from Johnny Harkin and reached the break two points in front. Harkin and his club mate James Darcy managed to hit six points between them as the win moved Omagh into second place in their group.

The Tyrone lads led throughout and looked well on their way to a convincing win. However they were rocked back on their heels when St Ronan’s Conor Turbitt snatched a goal right close to the end. Omagh had been leading by five points at that stage but held on for the win.

The win moves Omagh into second place in the group. Next up for the boys in maroon is a clash with tabletoppers St Colman’s Newry in their final group game.

The top two automatically qualify for the MacRory Cup quarter-finals in the New Year.
