St Patrick’s Academy 1-20 0-5 Cathair Dhoire
St Patrick’s Academy completed their group C fixtures unbeaten following a comfortable victory over Cathair Doire in Stewartstown.
The Academy meant business from the outset and were five in front in the opening five minutes. Inside forwards Charlie Maguire, Eoin Long and Liam McGeary all on target. Darragh Devlin and Michael Hughes also on target at the end of a dominant opening quarter.
The Derry lads solitary point of the half, came from a well struck Liam Meenan free, in the 18th minute. McGeary and Mulgrew extended the lead to 9-1, at the break.
A brilliant two pointer from Meenan on the restart, was as good as it got for Cathair Doire, as the Academy found their stride. A brace of points from Devlin sandwiched a Long free.
All hopes for the Derry lads were extinguished in the 43rd minute. Aodhan Quinn broke the kick out to Liam McGeary. His defence splitting pass was poked goal wards by Charlie Maguire, with Darragh Devlin finishing from close range.
A super two pointer from Michael Hughes on his home pitch was the highlight of the final quarter, as Davin McKeown, Jonah Feeney and Mulgrew all registered scores to complete a comfortable victory.
Both sides are back in action next week as the last sixteen play off round is scheduled, with Dungannon securing a home venue.
