Extra time or no extra time? There certainly seems to be some confusion in Cookstown tonight after the Tyrone Grade 1 Minor Championship Quarter Final finished in a 0-13 to 2-7 draw after normal time. It’s been reported to Teamtalkmag.com tonight that the referee had taken up his position to restart the game but Ardboe insisted that they were not required to play the additional time because of the quality of the lights at the venue. Referee Fergal Daly was left with no other option but to return to the changing rooms. It certainly looks like this one is definitely set to run and run and probably not just on the field. Teamtalkmag.com will keep you up to date.

The game itself was a really close affair with little or nothing between the two teams throughout the sixty minutes. Cookstown however did take a one point lead into the break at 0-8 to 1-4 with James McGahan 0-4 and Barry Potter 0-3 to the fore for the Fr Rock’s, while O’Neill slotted home the Ardboe goal. Tyrone County Minor man Michael Cassidy opened the scoring after the break with a goal in the 32nd minute but Cookstown battled back quickly to lead with ten minutes to go. Once again two McGahan points and another effort from Barry Potter helped their cause. Another Barry Potter point in the 58th minute looked to have won the game however Ardboe levelled in injury time. Michael Cassidy missed the opportunity at the death from a free before Fergal Daly called a halt to normal time. James McGahan finished the game with 0-7. Final Score – Cookstown 0-13 Ardboe 2-7
