Connolly’s of Moy Championship Is Still Where It’s At
Sunday 07.09.2025
The Connolly’s of Moy Tyrone Club championship continues to deliver with some superb games played over the weekend.
The Intermediate first round match between Drumquin and Beragh was a real battle with both teams taking it right to the wire before finishing a draw.

Drumquin surprised a lot of neutrals with their competitive approach and with Oisin Gormley, Sean Mc Donagh, Ronan Strain and Finucane Glackin to the fore they had the Red Knights in serious bother reaching the half time whistle 1-8 to 0-3 ahead. Unfortunately for the Tones they lost key attacker Finnen Patterson to injury at a key time in the game.

The teams took to the field for the start of the second half with few among the large crowd present giving Beragh much of a chance to turn it around. But as one would expect from a team so suitably named that is exactly what we saw. Led by Conor Owens, Oisin Donnelly and substitutes Darragh Mc Kenna and Paddy Mc Cann the Beragh lads set about reeling their opponents in.
Points from Owens, Oisin Donnelly, who was outstanding, and Jack Campbell plus a goal from Oisin Donnelly reduced the gap to a single point as the momentum swing very much in the direction of Beragh. However Drumquin recovered from the shock and scores from Sean Mc Donagh and Stevie Gormley turned the game once more in the direction of the Wolfe Tones.
Five points in a row from Oisin Donnelly had Beragh back in the chase once more before Drumquin were reduced to fourteen following the sending off of corner back Stevie Gormley. Sean Mc Donagh and Conor Owens swapped points deep in added time to leave the game level and the large crowd looking forward to the replay.
