Development C league final

Cookstown 7-14 3-2 Carrickmore

Cookstown has the honour of lifting the first piece of silverware of the year. Killyclogher pitch was in perfect condition, and it encouraged the playing of attacking football. The quality of both teams was impressive and a credit to their clubs and mentors.

An outstanding display of direct football saw the young Rocks run out convincing winners. A breathtaking start saw Cookstown hit the net six times in the opening twelve minutes. Matthew Coyle was the tormentor in chief, claiming three goals, ably assisted by Bailey Muldoon, Tiernan Gormley, and Harri Niblock. Cookstown duo JJ Coyle and Tiernan Lagan dominated the midfield sector and gave the lively Fr Rocks forward unit plenty of ammunition, both also registering scores.

At the back, Corey Devlin was superb in goals, with Kian Kelly and Barney Hutton excelling in the full back line. Matthew Rogers and Sean Hamill provided plenty of cover.

It wasn’t to be Carrickmore’s day, as they never recovered from Cookstown’s start, but they played to the final whistle. Cathaoir McMahon, a penalty from Eoghan Donnelly and a Tiernan McMahon goal was reward for their efforts.

Carrickmore will not have to wait long to gain revenge, as they face the same opposition in the development B league final.
