Cookstown Overwhelming Favourites With Experts
Saturday 13.10.2012
Teamtalk asked representatives from the other fourteen clubs just who would get their hands on the Paddy Cullen Cup on Sunday afternoon and based on the results its an overwhelming vote in favour of favourites Cookstown with Augher’s Mary Connolly the only one to go for neighbours Eskra!
Colin Mackle, Moy – Cookstown are the best side that we have played all year. They have a great all round strength and depth and appear to be on a mission and its difficult to see past them. COOKSTOWN
Mark McKenna, Pomeroy – I would say that Cookstown will win by a few points based on their league form and the fact that they won the Intermediate championship a few seasons ago. Eskra are a good side though and if Peter Hughes is on form they can cause an upset. COOKSTOWN
Aodhan Harkin, Strabane – I have no doubt that Eskra will give it a real go but Cookstown have to be fancied due to the fact that they have done it all before and that will stand to them. COOKSTOWN
Mary Connolly, Augher – Cookstown may have the experience but I think that Eskra will be the hungrier of the two sides and that could well be the deciding factor. ESKRA
Paul Quinn, Rock – Cookstown have the experience of being at this stage before while I also feel that they have got the breaks when it was required this year and I can’t see them losing now. COOKSTOWN
Ciaran Meenagh, Loughmacrory – It could be a lot closer than most people think. I have been impressed with the mobility of Eskra and if they can stifle Martin Murray, Shea McGarrity and James McGahan they have a real chance. Having said that Cookstown’s strength from the bench could be the difference. COOKSTOWN
Joe McKee, Derrytresk – Based on league form and experience it’s difficult to look past Cookstown who have been impressive all season to date. COOKSTOWN
Rodger Keenan, Gortin – I think that Cookstown have the stronger all round team with more quality in the key areas. I think it would be great for football if Eskra won it but I think that Cookstown will have too much for them. COOKSTOWN
Dominic Donaghy, Killeeshil – I think that Eskra will ask serious questions of Cookstown but the greater know how and experience of the Father Rocks looks as though it will be the deciding factor. COOKSTOWN
Paul Rafferty, Galbally – I think that Cookstown will have too much strength and depth for Eskra although it could be closer than a lot of people might think. COOKSTOWN
Ambrose Houston, Clann na Gael – I can’t see past Cookstown but it would be good to see Eskra win to give a boost to small rural clubs. Cookstown to win by five points. COOKSTOWN
Sean Corrigan, Urney –Cookstown have already the league title in the bag and it could all come down to hunger. I think that Eskra have a great chance of upsetting the odds if they perform on the day. COOKSTOWN
Michael Anderson, Aghyaran – Cookstown have shown greater consistency over the season and due to their experience as well as their greater options at getting scores they have to be fancied. COOKSTOWN
Gerard Donnelly, Stewartstown – I don’t think that it will be as clear cut as some people might think as Eskra are a good side on their day but I still fancy Cookstown to prevail. COOKSTOWN
