This coming weekend sees 170 cyclists take to the roads of the nation’s capital and the surrounding countryside. The riders leave Headquarters, sent on their way by Christy Cooney, bound for the highways and byways of Dublin, Meath, Louth and Monaghan. Their first scheduled stop is Ashbourne after which they will travel to Hunterstown Rovers where they will break for lunch. Former Cappagh resident and Killyclogher native Sean Mc Clean is present club secretary with the Louth club. They will continue their journey northwards to Cremartin in County Monaghan where they rest up overnight. Perhaps rest up is the wrong phrase considering that many of the cyclists plan to travel to Newry to support their fellow club members involved in the Ulster Senior Scor Final.

The weary heads will rise early on Sunday morning and bid farewell to their hosts as they complete the homeward leg of their journey. They will pass through Clogher and onto Seskinore where any social cyclists are welcome to join them on the final eight miles of their epic journey. The final stop of the trip takes place at Crevenagh Park and Ride where the riders will be joined by their family, friends and club members for the final mile to the heart of the parish, Cappagh Parish Centre arriving at approximately 2:30 to 3:00 pm.
