The 3rd Annual ‘One-Wall on the Rock’ Tournament on the picturesque Inis Mor island again proved to be a hugely enjoyable and successful tournament, as the event grows in stature year on year.

A large number of Handballers travelled over to via ferry and flight on Friday and Saturday to compete in the opening tournament in the One-Wall season, all eager to get their season off to a positive start. The Open grades were again very competitive, with numerous high profile stars of Irish Handball on show.
Among them was Carrickmore’s Darragh Daly who has proved in recent years he is among the top One-Wall players in the country. Daly returned, aiming to go one better than last year, where he was defeated in the final. And he comfortably won his way back to the Final with an impressive 21-10 SF victory over rising Armagh star Conal McCavitt.

In the final he found himself in a repeat of last year’s decider against Cork sensation Killian Carroll. Carroll seemed set to retain his title in the early stages as he raced into a 9-1 lead with his all action attacking play. But Daly changed the tide of the game and spreading the play with angled kill shots, had Carroll in trouble and levelled the game at 9-9, much to the excitement of the crowd. From there, Daly’s confidence grew and he controlled the pace of the game, racing into a six point lead. Carroll threw everything at the Tyrone man, running down every shot, but Daly matched everything that came his way and comfortably held on to claim the title 20-17.
