Strabane Sigersons hosted their third annual Danny Rouse Minor Memorial Blitz under floodlights at Páirc Mhic Sioghair Strabane last Wednesday night with Owen Roe O’Neill’s defeating the hosts to clinch the title making up for the disappointment of finishing runners up to Omagh last season.
The first half of the final was a close affair with Owen Roes holding a slight advantage but as Strabane tried to close the gap in the second half they found themselves vulnerable to the counter attack. Owen Roes capitalised with their forwards scoring a couple of goals, whilst their defenders did their job at guarding their net to ensure there was no way back for the home side.

Congratulations to Owen Roes not only for winning the tournament but also for participating in a manner that honoured the memory of a true sporting great, Danny “Bomber” Rouse.

Thanks to Eileen, Andrea, John and the rest of the Rouse Family for attending the event and assisting with the presentation. Thanks also to the Sigersons team mentors Danny McBride & Malcolm McCool, to referee Eugene Kelly and also to Donna for providing the refreshments. The Club wish to express its gratitude to Melmount Community Forum for providing the funding for the trophies and the clubs Youth Officer, Jason Foley would like to thank Jimmy Bonner and Aodhán Harkin for their assistance in helping to organise the event.
