Danske Bank Mac Rory Cup Quarter Finals Draw

Monday 16.12.2013
Team Talk Mag

The draw for the quarter finals of this year’s Mac Rory Cup took place earlier today throwing up several interesting ties. At this stage there are still three play-off matches to be completed to determine the make-up of the last eight leaving eleven teams still in with a chance. Two Tyrone colleges are involved in these do or die games that will determine their eventual participation in the knock out stages of the competition.

Both St Pats Dungannon and St Ciarans Ballygawley face stern challenges with newcomers St Ciarans taking on Newry hotshots St Colmans for a place in the quarters. Should the new kids on the block beat the former Hogan Cup winners they can look forward to a clash with fellow Tyrone side Omagh CBS. However there are few in Colleges football who are backing St Ciarans to make the last eight.

Meanwhile St Pats Dungannon face a St Pats Armagh team short on confidence in their pre quarter final play-off. The Armagh side have yet to taste victory this year and even though this is not the strongest Dungannon side to represent the school it would be a major shock if the Tyrone school did not make it through to the last eight. Either way the winners of this game will take on a highly rated Abbey CBS Newry side in the quarter final of the competition.

The full draw is as follows.

St Ciarans Ballygawley v St Colmans Newry with the winners to face Omagh CBS.

St Pats Maghera v St Mary’s Magherafelt with the winners to face St Macartans Monaghan

St Pats Cavan v St Michaels Enniskillen.

St Pats Armagh v St Pats Dungannon with the winners facing Abbey CBS Newry
