Darren Mc Curry, A Man In A Hurry!

Darren Mc Curry made his first start in this year’s championship campaign on Saturday afternoon and finished up his team’s top scorer with eight points to his name as he looked like a player keen to make up for lost time. The Edendork youngster hit his opening score after seven minutes and ended the half with seven points as he led the line masterfully. His pace and movement allied with his accuracy from play and placed balls ensured he was the perfect “go to” man for Tyrone. Surprisingly he only managed to add one additional point in the second half before being replaced fifteen minutes into the second period by another championship debutant Omagh’s Ronan O’Neill.

Mc Curry was one part of a very pacy but previously untried full forward line that was forced to cope without their captain and leader Stevie O’Neill. However he was certainly a man in a hurry as he helped his team reach the break fourteen points clear. Tyrone and young Mc Curry will certainly come up against much better and stronger defences in the future. However today’s game allowed the corner forward to rediscover his confidence and scoring touch as well as remind his manager of what he is capable when given the chance. We may have lost one valuable source of scoring from Edendork following Niall Morgan’s injury but with Darren Mc Curry showing the sort of form he did today we might not feel his loss too much.
