Strabane Sigersons hosted a very successful David Devine Memorial Juvenile Tournament @ Páirc Mhic Sioghair on Thursday night past under floodlights with Owen Roes defeating Newtownstewart in a closely contested final.

Strabane, Owen Roes, Newtownstewart, Loughmacrory and Castlefin all participated in the tournament with some fine football played over the course of the night.

Owen Roes avenged an earlier defeat at the hands of Newtownstewart in the opening round when they lost 0-3 to 0-2 but in the final they shaded the verdict 1-4 to 0-6 to lift the David Devine Memorial Cup.

Following the final, Sigersons club player Ciarán Friel who was a team mate of the late David Devine and a close family friend presented Owen Roes captain Jack McGeehan with the Memorial Cup and alongside the sponsors (Melmount Community Forum) who were represented by Mickey Cunningham presented trophies to the winners Owen Roes and to the runners up Newtownstewart.
Ciarán also presented Mrs Chrissie Devine with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation on behalf of the club.

Organiser Liam Sweeney thanked all the clubs who had taken part and paid tribute to the Devine family for their steadfast support of the tournament, he went on to thank the two referees Eamon McHugh (Aghyaran) and Eunan Harkin (Strabane) without whose help the event couldn’t have taken place.
