The double header at Greencastle on Sunday afternoon saw a dominant Brocagh side ease to an eighteen point win over an understrength CNG side on a final score of 4-17 to 1-8 and a cracking draw between Castlederg and neighbours Glenelly.

Conan Mc Donald produced a man of the match display as he led his Brocagh side to a deserved win. The loughshore lads bossed the game from the start and by half time had opened up a 2-10 to 1-2 lead. Points from Patrick Canavan, Conan Mc Donald, Michael Robinson, Niall Cassidy, Cathal Donnelly and Mickey Hughes and goals from Conan Mc Donald  and James Mc Kiver put Brocagh in a strong position at the break. Dean Houston gave his team hope with one of the goals of the weekend with a fantastic effort just before the break.

Brocagh continued to dominate and added a further nine points as the Emmetts eased to a 4-17 to 1-8 win.

The second fixture of the day produced the game of the weekend as Castlederg’s Corin Mc Connell fired over a last minute two point free to earn his team a replay against Glenelly.

Eoghan Bradley and Mc Connell certainly carried the fight to their opponents and after a superb first half Castlederg led  at the break 3-7 to 1-8 with their third goal coming from a converted penalty courtesy of Corin Mc Connell.

However things changed significantly in the second half as Glenelly set about reducing the deficit. Oskar O’Neill struck for an early goal but the Derg replied almost immediately with their third goal as Eoghan Bradley hit the net to restore the three point lead.

Two minutes later and it was all square again as Ronan O’Kane tied this up with his team’s third goal of the game to leave the score 3-8 apiece.

Corin Mc Connell land a further 1-2 to put five between them but from then until the dying minutes it was all Glenelly as they narrowed the gap and eventually led by five with time running out. A Mark Kennedy goal seemed to have won it for Glenelly but there’s still time for a few more twists. Darren Traynor plundered his team’s fifth goal with the game entering added time and then big Mc Connell stepped up to land a huge two pointer that not only tied the game but earned his team a welll deserved replay.
