Derrylaughan’s Ulster Intermediate campaign came to an end at the semi final stage at Brewster Park on Sunday afternoon when they were beaten 2-12 to 1-5 by Monaghan champions Doohamlet.

The Monaghan men dominated the opening half hour to lead 2-7 to 0-3 at the break with Niall Jim Connolly and Shane McManus getting two goals inside sixty seconds, Ciaran Gervin and Fergal McAliskey on target for the Kevin Barrys.

To their credit the Loughshore men came out for the second half with all guns blazing as they started to play the football that they are capable of.

The Gervin brothers Liam and Ciaran both scored points before the latter fired in a brilliant fifth minute goal. That reduced the deficit to five points but the Kevin Barrys failed to build on that and in fact they failed to score for the rest of the contest.

Doohamlet weathered the storm and they closed the game out in emphatic fashion with scores from Shane McManus, Ciaran McManus and Duffy to emerge convincing winners.
