Derrytresk and Greencastle were the victors in the championship double bill at Pearse Park in Galbally on Sunday afternoon. The men from the Hill went into their game as underdogs against a fancied Pomeroy side but they didn’t read the script on their way to a 2-7 to 0-9 victory. The Plunketts shaded the first half thanks to points from Frank Burns, Kieran McGeary and John Loughran, Caolan Corr and Niall Gavin with Derrytresk scores. The second half was only a couple of minutes old when Aidan Gavin struck for a Derrytresk goal.  It was an advantage that they were never to lose and Caolan Corr sealed victory with another major late on.

The second game saw Greencastle make history when they won their first ever game in the senior championship when overcoming Eglish in a battle of the St.Patricks, 2-9 to 1-11. Cahir McCullagh hit four points for the winners with Chris Gillen and Mark Carson getting their goals with Shane McCullagh, John McCullagh, Sean Fox and Barry McGarvey also on target.  Mark Donnelly got the Eglish goal from the penalty spot, Peter McCann contributed four points and Emmett McKenna and Ciaran Colton had a brace each.
