Derrytresk 0-15 Killyman 0-13

Derrytresk justified their favourites tag to advance to the quarter finals of the Connollys of Moy Junior championship but they were pushed right to the wire by a gallant Killyman side at Stewartstown on Friday night.

The men from the Hill were the better side early on and that was reflected on the scoreboard as they established a 0-4 to 0-0 lead by the end of the opening quarter thanks to a trio of points from GO POWER man of the match Odhran Hughes as well as one from Niall Gavin. Killyman had plenty of possession but they kicked a few wides as well as dropping a couple of shots short. Sean Donnelly go the St.Marys challenge up and running with a superb two pointer and after Jack Quinn and team Captain Cathal McGahan had brought them level it was still a stalemate at the interval, 0-6 apiece.

Cathal O’Neill and Ultan McKee had the opening two points of the second half for the winners but Killyman responded through Caomhan McGahan and Quinn. A Quinn free then edged the St.Marys in front for the first time in the contest but Derrytresk quickly responded as the lead changed hands again thanks to efforts from Liam Slater and Patick Campbell. A brilliant O’Neill orange flag opened up a gap but Killyman weren’t going away. Donnelly and Quinn had points to set up a thrilling finish but Derrytresk held on to advance.
