Galbally got their season off to a winning start with a home win over Derrytresk.  Mickey Murphy and Kieran McCrory were first half point scorers for the Pearses.  Joe McKee was among the Derrytresk scorers as they trailed 0-2 to 0-4 at the short whistle.  Mickey Murphy and Kieran McCrory were back on target for Galbally after the break with goals.  Liam Slator did get a goal back for Derrytresk and Caolan Corr added on a few points but Galbally could not be caught.  Final Score – Galbally 2-5 Derrytresk 1-4

Chris Lawn will be a happy man tonight as he returned to manage Moortown to a 2-11 to 2-8 win over newly promoted Dungannon.  Patrick Quinn and Kiefer Morgan both got goals for the Clarkes but Conor Heron and Karl Hagan fired to the net for St Malachy’s as they held out to record an impressive three point win.  Final Score – Moortown 2-11 Dungannon 2-8

Aghyaran is always a difficult place to go to find a win and they proved that once again as they won out over a much fancied Rock side.  Sean Byrne got the only goal of the game for the home side.  Aidan Connelly and county man Ronan McNamee were among the point scorers for the winners.  Rock man Conor McCreesh top scored with 0-5.  Aidan McGarrity got 0-2 and Mark McAleer also featured on the scoresheet.  Final Score – Aghyaran 1-10 Rock 0-12

Strabane and Kildress played out a hard fought entertaining draw at Sigerson Park which finished all square 0-11 apiece. John Mc Laughlin and JP Gallagher provided much of the attacking threat from the home side in the first half while Des Treacy, Frank Mc Gurk and Matthew Heagney hit a brace of points each to help send the visitors in at the break leading 0-8 to 0-6. Gallagher and county man Danny Mc Bride helped put the home side ahead late in the game and it took a very late Des Treacy free to level the game and ensure a point apiece for both sides.

Near neighbours and rivals Edendork and Brackaville played out a 1-8 to 1-8 draw this afternoon on the Owen Roes return to Intermediate football. A fifth minute goal from David Toner gave Edendork the perfect start but six points shared between Che O’Donnell and Ciaran Gervan ensured that Brackaville went in a point up at the break. Toner, Karl Mc Guckin and Niall Morgan all hit points for the home side but county minor O’Donnell goaled to ensure the sides finished level at the end.

Urney and Stewartstown served up a high scoring game in Clady which saw four goals and lots of excitement as well as two precious points for the home side. Urney began well and led 0-8 to 0-4 at the break with points from Johnny Lafferty and Jamie Mc Aleer while Gareth Devlin was on target for the visitors. The second half began with a bang as Urney hit two goals inside the first two minutes from PJ Duffy and Johnny Lafferty. Stewartstown then bagged a brace of their own inside the next six minutes courtesy of James Kelly and Gareth Devlin but Urney held on and late points from Lafferty and Mc Aleer ensured a home win for Urney.

Clan na Gael welcomed Eskra to Aughabrack this afternoon but lost out 2-7 to 0-16. The home side started well with goals from Dominic Devine and Stevie O’Neill but Eskra gradually fought their way back into the game with Peter Hughes four first half points central to their recovery. Indeed Hughes continued to inspire his side with several more fine scores after the break while Aaron Kelly and Thomas Meegan helped keep the scoreboard ticking over. Despite the best efforts of Stevie O’Neill the home side succumbed to a three point defeat.
