Division 2 Wrap Up With Castle Paving

There were wins on Monday night for Rock over Greencastle and Owen Roes over Derrylaughan in Division 2 of the ACL. The Glenmornan lads made the long journey to the Loughshore but made it worthwhile with a 2-18 to 0-10 win. A fast start from the Roes with points from Peter Kirk, Cathal Mc Shane and Niall Mc Aleer got them going before Derrylaughan got off the mark. Mc Shane kicked a two pointer and following scores from Steven and Ryan Kelly Owen Roes led 0-14 to 0-3 with James Donnelly and Ciaran Quinn among the points for the Barrys.

Derrylaughan looked all at sea but they hit six of the next seven scores to narrow the gap to six. Mc Shane pilfered a point but it was Tony Devine’s goal that really halted the Derrylaughan charge. Cathal Mc Shane and Ryan Kelly landed points before Niall Mc Aleer rounded off things with a thumping effort and a fisted point to leave it 2-18 to 0-10 at the final whistle for Owen Roes.

Rock enjoyed a convincing win over Greencastle with Aidan Mc Garrity (1-1) and Peter Loughran leading the way in scoring terms. Odhran Carroll also hit the net for Rock while Conor Mc Garrity chipping in with three points for his team. There was little between the sides at the break with Rock a point to the good 1-5 to 0-7. Joe Warnock (2), Sean Og Teague and Mark Carson were among the points for the Castle but they had no answer to an impressive Rock side who kept their opponents to two second half points while adding 1-9 themselves. Final score 2-14 to 0-9 for Rock.
