Strabane made the long run to the Hill on Sunday and although there were signs of improvement in terms of scoring they found the home side a tough nut to crack. After an impressive opening half Derrytresk led at the break 1-6 to 0-2 and eventually ran out 2-15 to 0-10 winners with Oran Hughes top scoring with 1-7 while Sean Slater hit the net for the Hill’s other goal. Others to get among the points for the home side were PatCampbell with 0-3, Eoin Mc Nally (2) and a point apiece fron Cathal O’Neill, Niall Gavin and Paul Mc Cabe. Sigersons scorers on the day were Oran White 0-3, Micky Logue 0-2, Dylan Arnold 0-2, Gary Rouse 0-2 and 0-1 from Conal Crawford.
Stewartstown led 1-8 to 0-10 at half time against Augher and with little between the sides in the second half the Harps went on to win by five on a final score of 1-18 to 0-16. Shea O’Neill found the net for Stewartstown midway through the first half and added four further first half points as well. Macauley Quinn, Padraig Doran, Jude Lowe and Michael Hughes were on target in a close first period. Among the Augher scorers were Darragh Kavanagh (2), Pascal Gormley (6) and Declan Connolly (2). Kavanagh added two more in the second half as did Gormley and Tiernan Mc Elroy The Harps however were not to be denied and further scores from Rian Beggs (6), Shea O’Neill, who finished with 1-5, Kyran Robinson, Jude Lowe and Connor Quinn saw them home safely.
Not a great weekend for Glenelly who saw their position at the top of the table come under pressure while recording back to back league defeats for the first time this season. Only a single point separated themselves and Drumragh yesterday in Plumbridge with the Sarsfields taking the win on a final score of 2-10 to 0-15. Their goals came in the first half from Ronan Maguire and a converted penalty from Tommy Mullin. These were significant scores in deciding the outcome of the game. Drumragh scorers on the day were Conor Gormley 0-1, Ronan Maguire 1-2, Tommy Mullin 1-1, Frankie Monk 0-1 and Cain Murphy 0-5. Glenelly’s scorers were Harley Patton 0-5, Nathan Mc Laughlin 0-2, Rory Kennedy 0-2, Eoin Maguire 0-2, Cormac Mc Bride 0-2, Roan O’Kane and Eamon Mc Connell 0-1 apiece.
The local derby between Fintona and Eskra turned out to be a close and competitive contest. Tied at the break at 1-8 apiece Fintona finished strongly to claim the win on a final score of 1-19 to 1-16. The teams were tied with eight minutes to go before Fintona introduced Peter Colton and Diarmuid Martin to pull away to win by three. The Pearses had scores and scorers from all over the field with a goal From Tiernan Watson and points from Oran Hughes0-5, Jared Brogan 0-2, Aaron Mc Carney 0-5, Niall Murray 0-1, Conor Mc Goldrick 0-1, Conan Hegarty 0-1, Conor Mc Gillion 0-1 and Peter Colton 0-3.
Eskra’s scores came from Eoin Mc Avoy 1-6, Finn Kelly 0-7, Aaron Kelly0-1, Rory Kinsella 0-1 and Johnny Hackett 0-1.
Brackaville and Killyman served up a high scoring contest before the Roes emerged 2-27 to 4-14 winners. Brackaville led at the break 2-15 to 2-7. Killyman scorers were Eamon Donnelly 2-2, Eoghan Mc Gahan 1-3, Cathal Mc Gahan 1-1, Jack Quinn 0-4, Shea Gates 0-2 and a point apiece from Gary Hamill and Sean Donnelly.
