Clonoe’s Connor Mc Aliskey produced a superb individual display of scoring as his side defeated Moy 3-17 to 1-6. Scoring 3-8 Mc Aliskey replicated a feat previously achieved in the Clonoe jersey by the great Kevin Mc Cabe who bagged the same tally when the O’Rahillys defeated Augher in the championship back in 1988. Clonoe’s form of late had been somewhat up and down after their championship exit but Saturday’s performance will have given the team a considerable lift. Shane O’Hagan, Declan Mc Clure, Fintan Mc Clure and Martin Hughes all scored points for the winners while Sean Cavanagh, Ryan Mellon, Declan Conroy and Karol Mc Quade supplied the scores on a day Moy will want to forget. They also lost Colm Cavanagh early on to injury but will hope to have back to help them in their final series of league games.

Meanwhile Eglish defeated Augher in the league on Sunday evening with three first half goals giving them the platform for victory. Augher’s Darragh Kavanagh found the net after twelve minutes of the first half but Eglish then hit a purple patch that yielded a hat trick of majors. The goals came from three scores in a row from half back duo Pauric Martin and Conal Mc Nulty with a Eugene Daly  effort sandwiched between. County minor Conor Mc Kenna landed three points for the winners while Jamie Donnelly top scored for Augher with 0-7. The winners found scores hard to come by in the second half but did enough to hold out for a 3-7 to 1-10 win and gain two valuable league points.
