Division One Table Toppers In Titanic Tussle.

Friday evening fixtures have become very popular with players and spectators alike in recent years. For those with a taste for a bit of intense physical competition a visit to Pairc Cholmcille might be just what the doctor ordered as two of the top sides in Tyrone go head to head in a game that could have a huge bearing on the destiny of the Division One league title. Carrickmore will welcome Dromore in what is sure to be an ultra competitive fixture even though both sides will be minus their county stars. Historically in the league over the past ten or so years there has been very little between the two sides and it could well be the same tonight.

Dromore are currently top of the league following their late win over a gallant Cookstown side last weekend while Carrickmore sit a point off the top. However in many people’s eyes Carmen are the form team at the minute and their recent annihilation of Omagh and away win at Coalisland last time out were evidence aplenty of the quality and talent within  Kieran Mc Bride’s team.

Dromore have the only unbeaten record in the division at the minute and that along with top place is what is at stake tonight.

It is sure to be a very competitive match and whoever wins will not only take a major step towards becoming 2011 League Champions but will possibly become favourites to lift the O’Neill Cup as well.

Meanwhile the other two games in Division One also carry quite a bit of significance. Killyclogher are enjoying something of a renaissance under their new management team and have begun to climb the table. They face bottom club Cookstown in a game that is vital to both sides. A win for the home side would see them move onto ten points and into the top half of the table for the first time this season while two points for Cookstown would give them renewed hope of avoiding the drop. Like the Carrickmore v Dromore game both sides will be minus key individuals so this will be a test of character for the thirty plus players involved tonight.

The third and final Division One game tonight is the match between Donaghmore and Coalisland. Both sides are currently locked on nine points apiece and sitting mid table which is probably a fair reflection on how their season has gone. However a victory tonight moves the winners onto eleven points and sixth position on their own. This could well be a high scoring very entertaining game with very little in it when the whistle blows.

All three games are hard to call but one thing for sure is that there will be no quarter asked or given in any of tonight’s fixtures. You can follow all the news, results and reports on www.teamtalkmag.com tonight as the action concludes.
