Division One Wrap Up

There were a number of key results at both ends of the division one table over the course of the weekend. Trillick secured their place in the semi finals with a comprehensive 3-16 to 1-9 victory away to County finalists Coalisland with Lee Brennan hitting 1-7 and Niall Gormley and James Garrity also getting goals as it finished 3-16 to 1-9. Sean Corr got the Fianna goal with Niall Fox and Eoghan Rankin among their points.

Omagh took a step towards a top four finish as well with a convincing 4-14 to 1-9 victory at home to Ardboe. Hugh Gallagher got a brace of goals with Thomas Clarke and Barry Tierney also finding the net and Conan Grugan and Ronan O’Neill getting points. Jordan Bell got the Rossas goal with Kyle Coney and Shay McGuigan contributing points.

Donaghmore caused an upset with a 3-5 to 1-9 win away to Dromore to leave both sides still fighting for a top four finish going into the last round of fixtures. Tiarnan Drayne got a goal in each half for the visitors with defender Damian McCaul grabbing their other major. Sean McNabb got the Dromore goal in the second half.

At the other end of the table Aghyaran gave their survival hopes a huge boost with a fine 2-11 to 1-9 win at Carrickmore. Benny McLaughlin got an early goal for the hosts but the St.Davogs hit back with Paddy McNulty hitting two goals and County defender Ronan McNamee scoring a trio of fine points.

Galbally got a much needed win as well as they left it late at Clonoe. Sean Murphy and Enda McGarrity got goals for the Pearses with Declan Murphy and Daniel Kerr among their points. Patrick Doris and Danny McNulty were the chief marksmen for the O’Rahillys as it finished 2-10 to 0-14.

Pomeroy and Edendork met in a must win game for both sides at Plunkett Park and it finished honours even 1-7 to 0-10. Ollie McCreesh got the only goal of the game for the Plunketts with Kieran McGeary and Ronan Lagan among their points as they led at halftime.  Darren McCurry got half of Edendork’s tally with Niall Morgan getting a brace as the lead changed hands before Lagan levelled matters with his side’s only score in the second period.

Derrylaughan had an easy 2-17 to 0-7 win over an understrength Killyclogher side. Fergal McAliskey and James Kennedy were the Kevin Barrys goal scorers with Ciaran Quinn, Martin McStravog and Liam Gervin providing points, Tiernan Cox and James Carlin among the marksmen for the visitors.
