Junior football round up

The Tyrone Senior and Intermediate Football championships may have dominated the club programme this weekend, but there were still some interesting league games down for decision in the Junior grade, as the title race warms up.

Killeeshil regained outright control of the division thanks to a 1-14 to 1-9 victory over Castlederg in the proverbial game of two halves, at Marius McHugh Park this afternoon. Dara O’Neill struck for an early goal and with Shane Mallon landing a succession of points, they greeted the half time break holding a commanding thirteen point lead.

Castlederg enjoyed a productive beginning to the third quarter with Paddy Lynch pouncing for an early goal, but despite points from Stefan Gallen amongst others the hosts had left themselves too much to do. Killeeshil withstanding a spirited revival to move two points clear at the summit.

Brocagh remained in contention for a promotion play off berth following a comfortable 1-16 to 0-5 success over a depleted Tattyreagh side. Ciaran Donnelly and Michael Hughes notching eights points between them with Michael Carolan grabbing the goal. Darren Mullan getting on the home score sheet while in the final game played today, at O’Brien Park Brackaville were comfortable winners over Glenelly.
