On a day of high scores across the three divisions Clogher and Derrytresk served up a real thriller that was only decided by a late Caolan Corr free which was moved forward from the 45 as a result of dissent. The game finished Clogher 4-9 Derrytresk 2-16 with a point also separating the teams at the break when Clogher led 3-7 to 2-9. Niall Gavin hit five first half points while Liam Slater’s 2-1 helped keep his side in it. Clogher’s goal king Fergal Mc Kenna hit another hat trick of goals while Ryan Mc Caughey (1-4) and Mark Mc Connell (2)) were also among the points for the Eire Ogs.

Clan na nGael continued their good run of form with a 4-6 to 0-10 win over Beragh. Goals from Emmett Blee (2) and Stevie O’Neill as well as points from Damien and Danny Ball ensured their fine start to the season was maintained. Jack Campbell (5), Niall Owens (2), Nathan Grimes (2) and Chris Devlin were the point scorers for the Red Knights.

A very impressive first half laid the foundations for Fintona’s 2-15 to 1-9 victory over Killeeshil. Aaron Mc Carney hit 0-7 in the first half and Niall Murray 1-1 as the Pearses reached the break leading 1-11 to 0-1. Mc Carney added three second half points while Bernard Cassidy’s goal ensured there would be no comeback from Killeeshil. The St Mary’s were much improved in the second half with points from Pascal Donaghy, Liam Hughes and Ciaran O’Neill while Conor Donaghy also found the net for his team.

Saturday’s game between Errigal Thirds and Newtownstewart resulted in a 1-11 to 1-6 win for the St. Eugene’s but the Dunmoyle lads made them fight all the way for the points. After trailing 0-6 to 0-3 at the break Errigal got the perfect start to the second half when Chrissy Kelly goaled straight from the throw in. Newtown did recover but only looked comfortable when Aidan Mc Sorley got a major of their own with fifteen minutes to go. The goalscorer finished with 1-3 of his team’s 1-11 total while Ryan Mayse (3) and Eoin Donnelly (2) were also on target. Caolan Tierney and Michael Harte bagged a brace of points each but they were not enough to deny the North Tyrone outfit the win.

Two of the favourites for honours this year Tattyreagh and Owen Roes met on Sunday in a very competitive game which saw Owen Roes’ more clinical finishing proving decisive. James Darcy once again led the lines for Tattyreagh with 0-5 while Robert Porter landed their goal. However Owen Roes showed considerable resolve to take the win with Ronan Mc Nulty (4), Conor O’Neill (6) and Cathal Mc Shane weighing in with the key scores in their 0-14 to 1-7 win.

Brackaville enjoyed a facile 1-21 to 0-6 victory over Dregish in a very one sided game on Sunday afternoon.  Shea Fee (5), Sean Day (4) and Marty Gervin (4) were the point takers in chief for the winners while Sean Mc Nally’s 1-1 added to the gloss of a very convincing display. On a disappointing day for the Pearse Ogs Mark Catterson top scored with 0-3 while David O’Reilly (2) and Conor Lynch were the other Dregish scorers.

Killyman produced an excellent all round display to defeat Drumquin 3-11 to 0-9. A dominant first half saw Killyman reach the break leading 0-9 to 0-2 with Enda Mc Gahan, Niall Mc Alinden, Declan Boyle, Luke Roche and Michael Donnelly on target with points. Drumquin managed only two first half scores courtesy of Liam Patterson and Cormac Rodgers. The old saying that goals win matches certainly proved true in this one with Luke Roche, Ciaran Og Hughes and Daragh Morgan each finding the net in the second period and while Drumquin did improve after the break with Paul Sheridan landing five fine second half points, the St Mary’s were not to be denied  the win and wrapped up the scoring with their final point from the boot of Enda Mc Gahan.

Brocagh recorded a narrow 1-7 to 0-8 win at home to Drumragh with Mickey Hughes leading the scoring for the Emmetts hitting 1-4. Kieran Donnelly (2) and Eugene Ryan were the East Tyrone side’s other scorers in this hard fought victory. Shane Cleary, Kevin Marron, James Colgan, Barry Fitzgerald and Patrick Colgan with points for Drumragh.
