Friday night under the lights at Strabane saw Glenelly record a six point win over Fintona on a score of 1-14 to 0-11. A Rory Kennedy goal in the first half helped an impressive Glenelly side reach the break 1-6 to 0-7 in front. Seamus Harkin and Ronan O’Kane both hit three points apiece for the winners while Aodhan Mc Connell top scored for Glenelly with 0-4. Fintona pushed their opponents all the way in spite of falling eight points behind midway through the second half. Cathal Starrs, Eugene Mc Carroll, Pauric Kelly, Mark Mc Glinn, Aidan Donnelly and top scorer Peter Mc Glinn were all on target for The Pearses.

Drumquin lost out to Derrytresk after a match in which Niall Gavin once again proved his worth to his team. Gavin hit twelve of his team’s fifteen points as they saw off the challenge of the Wolfe Tones 0-15 to 0-9. Cathal O’Neill (2) and Padraig  Bell were the others to score for Derrytresk. Matthew Mc Dermott and Cormac Rodgers both hit three points apiece for Drumquin but in truth Derrytresk were comfortable and deserving winners.

Rock travelled to Castlederg in confident mood with one eye on a championship final and came away with the win after a very competitive game. The Derg led by two at the break 0-5 to 0-3 but Rock were much improved after the break. Stefan Gallen (2) and Sean Harper (3) top scored for Castlederg. Enda Mc Williams got the Rock goal while Aidan Mc Garrity hit five points for the winners.

Clan na nGael and Brocagh served up a high scoring game in which Mickey Hughes hit nine points for the Emmetts. Cathal Donnelly (4), Colm Mc Fall (2) and Owen Canavan (2) were also among the points while Barry Donnelly’s converted penalty proved crucial in the final outcome. CNG led at the break by three but Brocagh’s greater fitness showed after the break. Gareth Mc Dermott hit seven for the north Tyrone lads while Danny and Joe Ball both chipped in with several scores. The first half goal came from the boot of Cathal Mc Gill but Brocagh’s late penalty sealed the win for them.

With only a week to go until the Junior Championship final Kildress played out a very competitive draw with Brackaville on Saturday afternoon. The Wolfe Tones began well and opened up a six point gap with points from Marty Mc Gurk, Philip Lennon, Eoin Brannigan and Adam Connolly. Marty Gervin, Sean Mc Nally and Dale Mc Sorley responded for the Owen Roes. Adam Connolly extended the Kildress lead before Brackaville enjoyed a purple patch hitting five points unanswered. Connolly, Lennon, Mc Gurk and Des Tracey added points before Gary Ferguson found the net to bring his team back into the game. However two points from Connolly put Kildress three clear with time running out. Brackaville went for broke and a fisted effort from Sean Mc Nally ensured the points were shared. Final score Brackaville 2-9, Kildress 0-15

Drumragh defeated Eskra on Saturday 1-11 to 0-11 with Tommy Mullin top scoring with 1-3 while Shane Cleary (4) and Shane Devine (2) were among the points. Eskra looked jaded throughout with Joe Mc Carroll (4) and Shane Hackett (3) accounting for most of their team’s scores.

Errigal Thirds and Killyman served up a high scoring game on Saturday evening before the Dunmoyle lads ran out 5-12 to 0-14 winners. Caolan Tierney was scorer in chief for the winners with 2-4 while Sean Mellon, Paul Mc Goarty and Aaron Mc Anenly each hit a goal. Killy man trailed 2-8 to 0-7 at the break and although defeated will be happy with the effort shown by the players. Enda Mc Gahan (4), Michael Donnelly (6), Gerard Hughes, Adam Cullen and Brian O’Rourke were among the Killyman points.
