Beragh enjoyed a comprehensive win at home to Castlederg on Sunday on a final score of 1-15 to 1-6. The home side began well with Marty Rodgers bagging a couple of points and Niall Owens hitting the net. Twenty minutes into the opening period and Beragh were 1-7 to 0-0 in front with Johnny Woods and James Mc Nelis among the scorers. The Derg finally broke their duck on twenty seven minutes but the half time score told its own story as the home side led 1-9 to 0-1. The second half did see an improved performance from Castlederg but the damage had been done in the first period and with both sides down to fourteen men Beragh cruised to victory.
Clan Na Gael travelled to Clogher on Sunday and came away with the points after a very impressive opening period that saw Adrian Ball hit 0-5 and Niall Kerlin score 0-3. The North Tyrone side led 0-11 to 0-3 at the break with Clogher’s scores coming from Bazza Mc Kenna, Paul Tierney and Mickey Mc Caughey. The second half saw a much improved display from the Eire Ogs and when Marc Mc Connell found the net for Clogher only two points separated the sides with ten minutes left for play. However a late goal from Niall Kerlin ensured the points went to Clan Na Gael on a final score of 1-14 to 1-9.
Rock got the better of thirteen man Dregish at home on Sunday but found the going difficult enough. Conor Mc Creesh landed ten points for the winners who led 0-8 to 1-2 at the break with Aidan Mc Garrity and Enda Mc Williams also on target. Peter Mc Crossan scored the Dregish goal while Mark Catterson, Aidan O’Kane, Stephen Breen and Fergus Mc Crossan registered points.
Derrytresk appeared to enjoy an easy 2-9 to 0-6 win over Owen Roes at home but the score line does not tell the whole story. It was point for point throughout the first half with only a point separating them at the break 0-5 to 0-4 in favour of the Hill Men. The second half saw Owen Roes goalkeeper Ryan Mc Shane save a penalty from Joe Mc Kee before Cathal Mc Shane scored to level the game at 0-6 apiece. However in the closing ten minutes the home side hit 2-3 without reply to leave the final score Derrytresk 2-9, Owen Roes 0-6. Caolan Corr [1-3], Joe Mc Kee [0-5] and Sean Slater 1-0] were on target for the winners while Cathal Mc Shane [0-4], Ryan Mc Aleer [0-1] and Stephen Harper [0-1] got the Owen Roes scores.
Aghaloo came out on top in a high scoring game against Drumquin on Sunday with Niall Henderson hitting 3-2 for the winners. The O’Neills led 2-4 to 0-5 at the break with Henderson plundering two of his goals during the opening thirty minutes and in spite of a much improved Drumquin display did enough to earn the two points. Frank Mc Alynn scored 0-7 for the Wolfe Tones while Barry Glackin [1-3], Paul Sheridan [0-2] and Ryan Mc Callion [0-1] were responsible for their team’s other scores. In addition to Henderson’s hat trick Tiernan Donnelly [1-2] and Niall Mc Elroy [0-3] were others to figure prominently for the winners.
