Coalisland Thirds got their first league win of the season away to Brocagh on Sunday. In a high scoring game they saw off the challenge of the Emmetts on a 3-10 to 2-10 score line. Brocagh were on top in the first half and with goals from Aidan Dorman (1-1) and Ryan Canavan (1-1) they reached the break leading 2-6 to 0-6. The Fianna hit the net for three second half goals from Rory Nixon (1-2), Nathan Crawford (1-1) and Tiarnan Duffy (1-0) while Patrick Lyons (4) and Stephen Webb (2) shared six points between them. Tiernan O’Neill (2), Donal Robinson (2), Shea Ryan (1) and Christopher Cross (1) completed the scoring for Brocagh.

Urney were pushed all the way by Errigal Thirds before emerging 4-6 to 0-14 winners. It was the border men’s ability to find the net that ultimately decided the outcome of the game. Jamie Mc Aleer hit 1-2 for his team while Johnny Lafferty clipped over a brace of points. Sean Mc Gowan, TJ Duffy and Danny Doherty each found the net for Urney while their other points came from James Kelly and PJ Mc Menamin. Errigal started slowly with first half scores from Niall Mc Girr (1), Niall Quinn (2) and Niall Mc Cartan (1) but the Dunmoyle lads were much improved after the restart. Pascal Donnelly (1), Niall Mc Cartan (5), Jody Farrell (2), Niall Quinn (1) and Robert Harper  (1) were responsible for their teams ten second half points.

Cookstown and Castlederg locked horns at the weekend with a possible place in the league final on offer for the winners. Mark Corry (8) was once again a key man in the Derg attack while  Ciaran Harper, Adam Traynor and Darren Traynor all contributed to the Derg’s scoring tally. The game was close throughout with a second half Cookstown goal proving the difference. An unfortunate slip in the Derg rearguard allowed the home side in for that hugely important score. James Mc Gahan hit 0-7 while Barry Potter got the Fr Rocks goal. Nathan Connolly (3), Owen Mulligan (1), Danny Mc Elhatton (1) and Martin Hughes (1) all contributed to the Cookstown total.

Table toppers and pace setters Kildress maintained their good form with a very convincing 6-19 to 0-3 win over Killyman. After a well contested opening twenty minutes of the first half the Wolfe Tones led 0-6 to 0-1 but a Mattie Mc Guigan goal gave Kildress the confidence to push on with Mc Guigan, Conor Quinn and Caolan Mc Namee adding points. Eamon Donnelly (2) and Enda Mc Gahan did the scoring for a weakened Killyman side. The second half was one way traffic as Kildress piled on the scores. Matty Mc Guigan (1-7), Philip Lennon (1-5), Caolan Mc Namee (2-1), Shea Murphy (1-1), Corey Holland (1-0), Pauric Lagan (0-2), Conor Quinn, Stephen Loughran and Johnny Connolly 0-1 apiece were all on target for the winners.

Drumragh enjoyed a narrow 2-11 to 0-15 win over Eskra at Clanabogan but they were made to fight all the way by a very determined Emmetts side. An early Ronan Maguire goal gave the home side the perfect start but Eskra kept with them until Tommy Mullin set up Shane Devine for his team’s second goal. Eskra were reduced to fourteen men in the second half but continued to cause problems for the Drumragh defence. Good work by James Colgan in goals helped keep Drumragh in front and in spite of an improved second half Eskra were unable to close the gap sufficiently. Joe Mc Carroll (4) and Peter Hughes (6) shared ten points between them while Cathal Meegan (2), Shane Hackett (2) and Aaron Kelly (1) were also among the scores for Eskra. Shane Cleary (3), Ronan Maguire  (1-3), Tommy Mullin (2), Shane Devine (1-1), Eoin Montgomery (0-1), Martin Taggart (0-1) did the scoring for Drumragh.

Killeeshil are still in the hunt for a place in the league play offs following their comfortable 2-17 to 0-7 win over Fintona Pearses. An impressive opening thirty minutes saw the home side open up a 0-12 to 0-4 lead. Daniel Millar was in good shooting form and finished with 0-7 to his name. The Killeeshil goals came courtesy of Jason Doyle (1-1) and Michael O’Neill (1-2) while Paschal Donaghy (3), Kieran Rafferty, Bernard O’Neill and Packie Mc Mullan each hit a point. On a disappointing day for the Pearses Cathal Starrs top scored with 0-4 while Pauric Kelly, Conal Rice and Sean Monteith contributed a point apiece.

Drumquin travelled to Clan na nGael for their league clash in confident form and were rewarded with a 0-18 to 0-8 win. The visitors started well with a run of scores from Sean Mc Donagh, Paul Sheridan and Mattie Mc Dermott but a free from Adrian Ball and two from Ronan Devine put the home side back in the game. Drumquin then hit seven in a row to reach the break leading 0-12 to 0-5.
The Wolfe Tones continued to dominate the second half and although CNG added points from Brendan Conway and Mark Henry there was no way back for the hosts. Sean Mc Donagh top scored for Drumquin with 0-6 while Mattie Mc Dermott (5) and Paul Sheridan (3) were all in fine shooting form. Eoin Poyntz , Oisin Mc Menamin and Pierce Mc Girr hit a point apiece.
